Richard Keys immediately posts old image of West Ham fans after latest Premier League defeat
Many West Ham supporters want Nuno Espirito Santo to be sacked.
Nottingham Forest beat West Ham 2-1 on Tuesday night, leaving Nuno appearing resigned to being sacked at the London Stadium.
West Ham did take the lead in the game through a Murillo own goal after 13 minutes, and were briefly two up before Crysencio Summerville’s goal was ruled out for offside.
That proved to be one of two main watershed moments in the game, as Nicolas Dominguez equalised just minutes later, before Morgan Gibbs-White scored from the penalty spot with 89 minutes on the clock to hand Sean Dyche’s side a huge win in the relegation six-pointer.
Alphonse Areola did make contact with Gibbs-White when the West Ham goalkeeper attempted to punch the ball clear, and after Tony Harrington was instructed by VAR to undertake an on-field review of the incident, he then awarded Forest the penalty and condemned the Hammers to yet another defeat.
Richard Keys raises West Ham, David Moyes point amid Nuno Espirito Santo sack calls
With West Ham now seven points adrift of safety, and with games against Tottenham, Sunderland and Chelsea next on their Premier League fixture list, most Hammers fans want Nuno gone.
However, presenter Richard Keys has been keen to remind Irons supporters of the dangers of calling for change prematurely, using David Moyes’ situation as his example.
Posting to his X account on Tuesday night, Keys accompanied an image of West Ham fans holding up a ‘Moyes out’ banner by writing: “Just two years ago, West Ham fans were demonstrating because they wanted David Moyes fired. Be careful what you wish for…”
Moyes left West Ham in the summer of 2024 after his side had just finished ninth in the Premier League and had won the Europa Conference League in the 2022-23 season.

Nuno and Moyes’ West Ham situations were vastly different
Playing the ifs, buts and maybes game in football is always a dangerous one; it often doesn’t do much good to stew on them either.
Hindsight always wins, but even so, the decision to move on from Moyes at the end of the 2023-24 season isn’t one that many West Ham fans feel was incorrect or feel guilty over, as his side was getting comprehensively beaten regularly towards the end.
It didn’t mean that West Ham fans didn’t appreciate what Moyes did at the London Stadium; they did, but most felt that he’d taken them as far as he could and at the time, that wasn’t a hot take to make.
- Moyes had a 29 and 37 per cent Premier League win rate in his final two seasons with West Ham
- Nuno currently has a 13 per cent league win rate in 2025-26
- West Ham have scored 22 goals this season and conceded 43
Indeed, it wouldn’t still be a topic for debate had club chiefs got his successor right, and in Julen Lopetegui, they didn’t, nor did they with Graham Potter and now seemingly Nuno too.
The difference between Moyes and Nuno, and why it’s probably unfair to compare their situations regarding fan pressure on them, is the fact that Moyes had delivered for the club in terms of silverware and multiple top-half finishes, whereas Nuno hasn’t proven he can win with the Hammers.
