Richard Keys blasts Karren Brady in explosive tweet, accuses West Ham chief of ‘wild allegations’

Richard Keys has hit out at West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady over the handling of the Kurt Zouma situation this week.

Zouma played in West Ham’s 1-0 win over Watford on Tuesday despite a video surfacing online of him kicking his cat, which has since been removed from the defender’s home by the RSPCA.

Zouma has since been fined two weeks’ wages by the Hammers but the London club has faced widespread condemnation for David Moyes’ decision to play the centre-back against the Hornets.

Ex-Sky Sports host Keys has accused Brady of making “wild allegations” and is sitting on the edge of his seat to see what the businesswoman has to say about Zouma’s situation.

“I can’t wait to read Ms Brady’s column Friday,” Keys wrote on his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning [10 February].

“She’s full of advice and wild allegations – but failed to lead mid-week.

“I love Moyes but she should’ve stopped him playing Zouma. Now they’re playing catch up.

“Was protecting the ‘asset’ worth more than doing the right thing?”

Awful situation

West Ham have put their foot right in it and everyone in a senior role at the London Stadium needs to take account for Zouma playing on Tuesday.

He should’ve instantly been suspended or at the very least been told to stay at home while the Hammers played against Watford.

Moyes put football first, which isn’t the right thing to do in a situation like this because while Zouma was widely booed by fans at the London Stadium, playing him essentially means that all is good.

And then you have Brady, David Sullivan, David Gold and Daniel Kretisnky. Even Mark Noble and Declan Rice maybe should’ve had a little word with Moyes – they cannot have been comfortable playing alongside Zouma on Tuesday night, surely?

We’re not blaming the players, by the way. But we’d have expected Rice and Noble to speak their minds if there was something going on they were not happy with – unless they didn’t mind Zouma was playing.

Moyes and the board, though, have created an awkward situation for the club, who are now being held to account by sponsors ducking out of their deals.

West Ham are paying for their decision.
