Report: West Ham target Manchester United duo in Old Trafford transfer raid

West Ham United are planning their summer transfer plans early, with Premier League survival key to those targets.

The Independent has reported that the Hammers are targeting a double raid for Manchester United duo Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard.

It is reported that David Moyes is a big fan of the two Red Devils having managed both during his spell at the club.

Lingard is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, with this seen as the last opportunity to get a decent fee for his services.

The 27-year-old could reportedly be deemed as surplus to requirements with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer planning a summer clearout.

Any move for Jones is said to be much more complicated for the Irons or any other club for that matter.

The defender signed a new four-year deal at the club last season, with Moyes viewing Jones as an option which could raise his team’s quality.

West Brom and Everton are said to be interested in Lingard as well so that one could be complicated to try and secure his services.

The 27-year-old hasn’t exactly impressed this season though, not managing to provide a single goal or assist in his 20 appearances.

The Irons need a midfielder that can chip in with more goals than they’ve managed this season, and Lingard certainly isn’t that player.
