Report: West Ham star’s injury has required injections

West Ham United have struggled with injuries throughout this season, with a number of important players missing significant time.

Playmaker Felipe Anderson is currently out injured, which is never a good thing for the struggling Hammers.

Meanwhile, central midfielder Jack Wilshere has continued his grand tradition of spending as much time on the treatment table as possible.

You do wonder whether something needs to be done at the club to prevent this swath of injuries which seem to crop up every campaign.

Either way, it appears that Ukrainian international winger Andriy Yarmolenko is on his way back from a problem which has kept him out since December.

Football London reported on Thursday that the former Borussia Dortmund man required injections on a thigh injury.

It’s said that the 30-year-old is back training on the grass, but that he isn’t as far along as Anderson, who is expected to come back against Manchester City next time out.

However, its thought that he could return to full fitness within the next three weeks.

Will Yarmolenko even be a factor moving forward?

That’s an interesting question, and is one that will soon crop up on David Moyes’ desk. He has plentiful options in attacking midfield, although they’ve not all been performing well.

Certainly, when everyone’s fit, Anderson, Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, Robert Snodgrass, Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini are ahead of Yarmolenko in the pecking order at the moment.

Then you have young stars Grady Diangana and Nathan Holland, who are starring out on loan at the moment.

It would appear that a 30-year-old on massive wages who isn’t anywhere near first choice probably wouldn’t be a candidate to remain at the club long-term.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are reportedly in the hunt for a 20-year-old central midfielder.
