Report – West Ham near deal completion, three more mooted

West Ham look to be moving quickly in their bid to replace recently sacked manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean was given the shove on Saturday evening after seeing his side lose to Leicester City – a result that leaves the Hammers just one point above the drop zone.

And naturally, his dismissal has sparked speculation as to who will come in to take his place.

According to a report from Football Insider, Irons fans won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.

The article states that a deal to bring David Moyes back to the club for a second stint is “99% done”.

The Scot is understood to have successfully pushed for a longer contract after having been appointed on an interim basis last time around.

The piece also suggests that Moyes could be followed to east London by Alan Irvine, Billy McKinlay and Chris Woods, who he hopes to appoint to his backroom staff, although deals for the trio have not yet been finalised.

And if all of this is true, then the Hammers should be pleased.

At the end of the day, if we’re being completely honest, perhaps Moyes isn’t the man to get pulses racing for the Irons.

His reputation took a real battering after those disastrous spells at Manchester United, Real Sociedad, and Sunderland, and for a while it never really looked as if he was going to recover from it.

But last time he took to the dugout in the capital, he did a stellar job.

He may have averaged just 1.19 points per game, as per Transfermarkt, but he got the Hammers out of danger, and turned them into a solid side who were hard to beat.

Lord knows how they need that kind of stability now more than ever.
