Report: West Ham in talks to sign striker

West Ham United have struggled in the final third all season long, there’s no doubt about that. It’s been one of their biggest issues this campaign.

Club record signing Sebastien Haller has failed to set the Premier League alight since his move from Eintracht Frankfurt, while Albian Ajeti has been nearly non-existent.

So it would be something of a surprise if the Hammers emerged from this transfer window with no fresh attacking recruits.

To that end, Sky Sports News reported on Friday that the east London outfit are in talks with French side Amiens for striker Serhou Guirassy.

West Ham

It would be a loan deal for the 23-year-old, who only joined the Ligue 1 side from German team Köln in a £5million deal last summer.

Amiens originally wanted to cash in on the attacker, but are now willing to settle for a loan-to-buy offer.

The Frenchman has four goals and one assist in 17 games in all competitions this season.

What would Guirassy offer West Ham?

It’s hard to say. He’d be another body up front, and presumably somebody who David Moyes would prefer to Ajeti.

But his record isn’t great this campaign, nor has it ever been. He’s something of a journeyman, despite still being a young player.

This just smacks of David Sullivan looking to get a cheap deal done without caring too much about the quality of the player.

In other West Ham news, the club are reportedly eyeing a swoop for a Slavia Prague midfielder this month.
