Report shares significant injury update on Michail Antonio ahead of West Ham v Leeds
West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is set to miss the upcoming games with Leeds and Crystal Palace, according to Claret and Hugh.
The Irons striker returned against Aston Villa last week, but pulled up once again and missed the defeat against Manchester United.
Sebastien Haller is set for an extended run in the team, despite failing to impress in the Premier League since arriving.
Claret and Hugh have reported on their website that Antonio is likely to be training alone this week as he bids to overcome a fresh hamstring issue.
It is claimed that the Hammers backroom staff are wanting the 30-year-old to feature for the under-23s before returning to the first-team this time around.
The current target for the return of Antonio is the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in two weeks time on the 21st.
Having said that, he is only expected to feature from the bench and if there is no certainty surrounding his return, it is best not to take the risk.
David Moyes is paying the consequences for potentially bringing back Antonio too soon in the victory against Aston Villa last week.
The 30-year-old has suffered from hamstring injuries ever since arriving at the London Stadium, so to bring him back early was ludicrous.
With Leeds coming up, the inclusion of Haller could affect the Irons, as the Ivorian isn’t known to play well against high-pressure sides.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side will keep the ball and make the Irons work – something which could exploit Hammers and in turn Haller.
