Report – Senior West Ham figure facing uncertain future amid planned Moyes shakeup
Karren Brady’s position as West Ham deputy chairwoman could be in jeopardy if the club decide to appoint a Director of Football, according to Claret & Hugh.
A report from the reliable outlet suggests that Hammers boss David Moyes is eager to organise the structure of the club during the current enforced break to his usual schedule, and wants to plot a long term plan for his side’s progression.
One big question that could come out the back of that process is whether or not the Irons will appoint a Director of Football.
Moyes has never fully explained his stance on working with a figure in that role, and it is understood that his priority in the immediate future is to properly examine the club’s scouting practices.
But the prospect of a Director of Football being appointed at some point is not off the table entirely, and the report suggests that it could lead to question marks over Brady’s role in East London.
What does this all mean?
At the present moment in time, probably very little.
The main priority for West Ham, despite everything that is going on with the Coronavirus and everything mentioned in the report, will be to avoid relegation when the season does eventually resume.
That means that any kind of seismic shake up is set to happen further down the line, even if the blueprints are put in place now.
When the time does arrive, however, there could be some fairly big changes.
A Director of Football, coming in to oversee pretty much everything at the club, would presumably lead to less responsibility for somebody like Brady.
Whether that would lead to her leaving the club entirely, is another matter, but the idea that she could be forced into a slightly adapted role is certainly not out of the question.
