‘Remarkable’ new Graham Potter reveal emerges from Rush Green as West Ham sources speak out
Graham Potter’s time at West Ham United is finally up, with more and more details emerging on his sacking.
Potter has been sacked by West Ham after a poor start to the season, which led to fan protests outside the London Stadium before the defeat to Crystal Palace.
West Ham allowed Potter to complete the club’s training and media duties ahead of the trip to Everton on Monday night, where he confirmed that positive talks had taken place with the club’s hierarchy.
Nuno Espirito Santo is set to become the new West Ham manager, with contracts already signed as he plans to take training on Saturday.

Graham Potter issued rally call as club felt ‘united’ again
It looked as though Potter was going to be given until the October international break to try and turn around the Hammers’ form, but the board have felt that enough is enough.
The players, however, were shocked at Potter’s dismissal, with many within the squad sticking by the former Chelsea boss no matter what.
The Daily Mail are reporting that club insiders described how Potter’s tactics and methods behind the scenes made the club feel together again, after a tumultuous time under Julen Lopetegui.
The report reads: “Potter called a meeting this week for all first-team staff to issue a rallying cry for everyone to stick together.
“Daily Mail Sport understands many of the senior players in the West Ham squad still backed Potter until the end.
“What’s remarkable is quite how quickly it all unravelled. When Daily Mail Sport spoke to numerous West Ham insiders in the first few weeks of Potter’s reign, they all talked about how his methods, both on the training ground and around their base at Rush Green, had made the club feel united again.”
Graham Potter’s methods didn’t translate to winning
Potter’s appointment initially brought optimism to a stagnating Hammers side, as fans believed the Englishman had a point to prove after his disaster at Chelsea.
Potter built up his credentials at Brighton and looked to translate that success at the London Stadium, but it was clear from early on that it was the wrong appointment.
West Ham United 2025/26 | Score |
Sunderland (A) | L 3-0 |
Chelsea (H) | L 5-1 |
Wolverhampton Wanderers (A) | L 3-2 |
Nottingham Forest (A) | W 3-0 |
Tottenham Hotspur (H) | L 3-0 |
Crystal Palace (H) | L 2-1 |
West Ham, however, haven’t backed the former Blues manager properly, and as a result are stuck in the midst of a strong relegation battle.
Potter can rebuild his career at a club more out the spotlight, like he was at the Seagulls, but the Hammers have to get it right with Nuno, or they will find themselves in the Championship come the end of May.
