Reliable journalist: West Ham set for friendly with London rivals as PL restart gathers pace

West Ham United are likely to face Queens Park Rangers in a “pre-season friendly” in the next couple of weeks.

The Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law reported that clubs are allowed to play friendlies from Saturday, with Crystal Palace also set to play Charlton.

It will be great for the players to get that competitive feel for football before the restart, with there being no matches played for nearly three months in England.

It hasn’t been made official, but it was reported that there would be strict rules for Premier League clubs to host friendlies.

The Telegraph reported that clubs aren’t allowed to travel further than 90 minutes away, and players much travel to and from the games in their own vehicles.

Club staff are set to officiate the games to avoid further unnecessary contact with officials, as well as strict risk assessments before and after games.

Project Restart has really started to gather pace in the past few days, with the Hammers first three fixtures confirmed on Friday.

West Ham confirmed on their official club website that they would face Wolves, Tottenham and Chelsea – the first and last of those at the London Stadium.

With three very tough tests ahead, a friendly against QPR seems to be perfect as Moyes looks to prepare his squad for battle.
