Reliable club source: West Ham will not risk the fitness of Sebastien Haller v Chelsea
West Ham United are unlikely to risk the fitness of striker Sebastien Haller in the upcoming clash with Chelsea at the London Stadium.
ExWHUemployee has reported that the Frenchman is set to miss the London derby as he hasn’t recovered as quickly as first expected for the Hammers.
The Irons’ record signing has failed to hit the ground running this season since arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt, and the restart could have been the perfect chance for that.
The reliable club source reported the news on his personal Twitter account on Sunday, as the Hammers look set for another big blow.
ExWHUemployee claimed that the Irons don’t want to risk Haller just in case he picks up another injury and is ruled out for the rest of the season.
“It’s looking like we won’t risk Haller for Chelsea now,” he wrote.
“He hasn’t recovered as quickly as was first hoped and they want to make sure he doesn’t come back too early and then rule himself out for the season.”
West Ham are struggling for that cutting edge in the final third as it is right now, and this is the final straw in that department.
Michail Antonio has been leading the line in recent games but has often tended to drift out wide far too often, meaning that there are no options in the middle of the park in the final third.
Football London journalist Sam Inkersole has also claimed that David Moyes doesn’t trust both Albian Ajeti and Xande Silva during a relegation battle – meaning there is only Antonio that could start again upfront.
