Reliable club source: West Ham forward exit hits the rocks over wage demands

West Ham United forward Jordan Hugill has never quite hit the ground running since arriving from Preston North End.

The forward first joined during David Moyes’ first reign in east London and has gone out on loan many times since.

Last season saw Hugill’s best spell away from the club at Queens Park Rangers in the Championship, but it hasn’t done much to change his chances with the Irons.

Claret and Hugh have recently reported that newly-relegated Norwich City have a strong interest in the striker.

According to the reliable club source though, any possible deal has appeared to have hit the rocks at Carrow Road.

It is suggested on their website that the Canaries can not match the reported £35,000-a-week wages of Hugill, despite just having a year of Premier League football.

Personal terms are a stumbling block, but the Irons are only set to ask for £5million and take a loss on the 28-year-old this summer.

Hugill never got the chance to impress, and now would be the perfect time for him to be shown the exit door.

Who could replace him?

The Mirror reported on Tuesday that the Hammers are one club ready to take a punt on Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi this summer.

Leeds are big players in that potential race though, and the Irons would likely need to sell a couple of players before bringing someone such as Batshuayi in.
