Reliable club source shares rarely-seen West Ham talent included in pre-season camp

West Ham United will be completing their pre-season training camp in Scotland before the 20/21 campaign.

The Premier League have confirmed their start date on the 12th of September, with fixtures set to be announced this week at the latest.

The Irons have already confirmed two friendlies against Wycombe Wanderers and Ipswich Town, with more possibly to come.

So, what sort of squad will David Moyes be taking north of the border?

Reliable club source ExWHUemployee has shared that it will consist of many senior players, with the rarely-seen Josh Cullen also involved.

“We will be taking a senior squad to Scotland for the training camp in St Andrews,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“Not many academy players are travelling. Josh Cullen is one of the fringe players that is, however.”

Cullen was sent out on loan to Charlton in the Championship last season, with the enforced lockdown helping him recover from a serious injury.

The midfielder also caught the eye of the Republic of Ireland set-up, something which certainly helped his development.

How did the 24-year-old fare on loan at the Valley last season then?

Cullen was the club’s second-best performer according to WhoScored, earning an average match rating of 7.04 in a relegated side.

In holding midfield he completed two tackles per game, but it was his ability on the ball that Moyes will have been concentrating on.

The Irish talent completed almost 45 passes in each outing, at an impressive completion rate of up to 82.8%.

Now is his time to shine, and Cullen must take full advantage of this trip if he wants to be involved in the Premier League next season.
