Reliable club source: No chance of West Ham mainstay leaving after reported interest
Claret and Hugh have claimed there is no chance of West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna leaving the club this summer.
Turkish outlet Posta had claimed that Galatasaray were interested in a loan-to-buy offer for the Italian enforcer, something described as ludicrous.
The reliable club source reported that with two years left on his deal at the London Stadium, the Turkish club should look elsewhere.
It is suggested that Ogbonna is a leading candidate for the Hammer of the Year award, no surprise given his form in the heart of defence.
David Moyes has swapped and changed his back four repeatedly this season with the likes of Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena not managing to cement a spot.
It has been completely the opposite for Ogbonna, who has been a mainstay throughout this Premier League campaign after struggling for minutes in the season before.
When you compare Ogbonna to the likes of Diop via WhoScored, the 32-year-old certainly holds his own against a player that was the club’s record signing when he arrived.
Ogbonna has completed more tackles per game than the Frenchman, as well as more blocks compared to Diop who wins more clearances and interceptions.
Moyes has three solid options in defence, and letting one of those go would be crazy – so this report can be viewed with a sigh of relief from all Hammers fans.
