Ray Parlour shares if West Ham United shock possible v Manchester City for David Moyes

Former Arsenal hero Ray Parlour has given his take on whether West Ham United can do his former club a favour and get a result at Manchester City in David Moyes’ final game.

Speaking on talkSPORT [17 May], Parlour admitted he cannot envisage anything other than a Man City win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday [19 May].

His view echo that of fellow talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor, who claims the West Ham players will be thinking about their “9pm flights to Dubai”.

Parlour said: “It’s David Moyes’ last game and he’s done a great job at West Ham.

“Maybe they put one more performance in for Moyes, but I just can’t see [an upset]. I really can’t.”

The Hammers’ last win at the Etihad came in 2015, with Michail Antonio the only member of the current squad involved that day.

West Ham need something to defend at Etihad Stadium

Parlour will be examining matters from more of an Arsenal perspective – the task is simple, win and hope. An early goal against Everton could put City into their paces a little more.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be dominant, but relaxed, as they have been for the past three season finales.

The best chance West Ham have is if they score early, and the Hammers need to take the glimmers of opportunities when they can. Chances will come, however sporadically.

Pep Guardiola once called Ward-Prowse the ‘best free-kick taker’ he has ever seen

There are talented and fearless players in the Hammers team – Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have to be on form, and any set-piece in James Ward-Prowse territory is a threat. All these stars have to align for any change at the top of the Premier League.

Opta’s supercomputer predicts just over a 75% chance of a City win, which many will have down as generous for the East Londoners. But a good start is key to a memorable Moyes swansong.
