Ray Parlour makes West Ham United v Everton prediction after what’s happened behind the scenes

Ray Parlour has predicted that West Ham will beat Everton on Saturday amid growing pressure on Julen Lopetegui.

The Spaniard has endured a rough start to life in England as Hammers boss and calls have been made for him to be sacked.

However, it is understood that he will remain in charge (the Telegraph) regardless of the outcome to the encounter on Saturday (9 November) to which Parlour has made a prediction.

Parlour, speaking on talkSPORT (8 November, 7:45 am) said: “West Ham are under pressure, but he’s had a vote of confidence from the board behind the scenes saying he’s okay at the moment, he’s going to be in there if we lose 5-0.

“I think it’s a must-win for West Ham, Everton lost to Southampton had a last-minute goal disallowed, I’m going to go the same scoreline I’m going to go West Ham 1-0.”

West Ham need to improve urgently

Although the club have instilled their confidence in Lopetegui, he can’t afford to let negative results carry on. They need points, fast.

After qualifying for Europe two seasons ago, the Hammers’ downfall has been disturbing with just three wins in their opening 10 games so far this campaign.

Of course, Everton have had a similar season. Albeit worse with just two wins. Failure to beat a side near the bottom will amplify that pressure even further, especially after the Toffees’ defeat to Southampton.

The Irons have an abundance of talent in their squad that just isn’t reaching the heights it is capable of.

Players such as Mohamed Kudus prior to his ban, Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez are all players with great pedigree but have underperformed for the Irons.

The key to success is to get them firing again and Loptegui has to find the formula to achieve that or else he will eventually succumb to the sack.

In other West Ham news, Lopetegui must axe Jean Clair-Todibo from his starting XI against Everton if he wants to beat the Toffees on Saturday.
