‘Putting himself on offer’ – Simon Jordan has doubts about Lingard future at West Ham

Jesse Lingard is grabbing the headlines once again after scoring the winner against Tottenham, and Simon Jordan has spoken about West Ham future.

The 28-year-old is on loan from Manchester United currently and Jordan thinks the Hammers may not be able to persuade him to stay permanently.

Leicester are also thought to be interested in the attacking midfielder, so Lingard’s future is certainly unclear.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Jordan said, “The biggest opportunity for all of this was Lingard, get out there, get on the front foot, do what he does as a player when he was a player worth recognising.

“He’s now back at that stage, he’s now putting himself on offer.

“I’m not so sure that Lingard will end up at West Ham and saw the opportunity to play for West Ham as a full-time opportunity.”

West Ham’s appeal

Lingard may be used to playing at arguably the biggest club in England but we think Jordan is making a rushed judgement on the situation.

There is a lot to like about West Ham for Lingard right now.

We have the appeal of London, he is clearly enjoying his football, and his teammates seem to have warmly welcomed him into the squad.

The celebration for his goal against Spurs show there is a camaraderie between him and his teammates.

That should appeal to his outgoing personality and scoring goals will give him a buzz he has not experienced in a while.

He is quickly becoming an important player for us and he could thrive off that responsibility – having often been confined to the bench at Old Trafford in recent months.

Moreover, we may be able to offer him European football next year, and he could re-establish himself as an England international if he maintains his current form over a longer period.

His heart is obviously in Manchester, but for the good of his career he may need to make a permanent move, and we have proved that we are the right fit for him.
