Pundit would love to see Declan Rice and Christian Eriksen in the same West Ham midfield

West Ham have been credited with an interest in Brentford attacking midfielder Christain Eriksen after The Daily Star reported on 7 June that the Hammers sent scouts to watch the 30-year-old.

Eriksen’s comeback with Brentford is a remarkable story, with the Dane looking to secure a move to a club further up the Premier League table.

Frank McAvennie would love to see Eriksen in the same side as Declan Rice, but accepts that a move for the midfielder is unlikely.

“I would think he’s on his way to Manchester United, as soon as I saw that I thought that’s where he’s going,” he told West Ham Zone.

“I mean what a player he is and he deserves everything that is coming his way.

“To come back from what he went through was absolutely incredible and I think he will be part of the Manchester United revival.

“He can get it down and he can play, I would love to see him in midfield with Declan Rice but I doubt if that will happen.”

West Ham monitoring Eriksen makes sense with the club looking to refresh their attacking and midfield options with The Sun reporting on 8 June that David Moyes is willing to listen to offers for Said Benrahma.

The Sun also suggest that Jesse Lingard is still a potential target for Moyes this window.

A move to West Ham could make sense for Eriksen as he has lived in London most of his career and could well be settled in the capital.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have been offered the chance to sign this £12.8million goal machine after his club was relegated.
