Premier League clubs want to sign West Ham United defender Vladimir Coufal, deal expires in 2024
West Ham have been approached by Premier League clubs about the availability of Vladimir Coufal, according to a report by TEAMtalk.
Writing on their official website (27 July), the news outlet reports that the Czech Republic international is a target for unnamed top flight clubs as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at the London Stadium.
Coufal had an option in his contract triggered at the end of the most recent campaign to extend his stay, with David Moyes seeing him as the first-choice right-back at the club ahead of Thilo Kehrer and Ben Johnson.
“A number of Premier League clubs are monitoring Vladimir Coufal’s contract situation at West Ham, TEAMtalk understands,” they wrote.
“Coufal is entering the final year of his contract at the London Stadium and several Premier League clubs have made enquiries about the Czech Republic international.”
Strong
There were some concerns about the form of Coufal in the most recent campaign as he fell off a cliff and looked a shadow of himself at points.
But he fought back after the World Cup and showed that it was clearly an injury issue, as he returned fresher and stronger to find himself back as the first-choice option and one of our most consistent performers.

Now fans are back to enjoying seeing his name on the team sheet and the general consensus is that we’re a better team when he’s in it, so losing him to a direct rival in the league would be a huge blow.
With that said, he’s on the wrong side of 30 these days and his contract situation is precarious. If a good offer is received and the board and management feel that he can be replaced then it shouldn’t be ruled out.
It’s certainly one to keep an eye on as the window edges towards it’s business end, but West Ham fans will hope that Coufal is still in claret and blue come the end of the transfer window.
