Peter Schmeichel slams West Ham United ace Michail Antonio as footage emerges v Brentford

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has slammed West Ham attacker Michail Antonio as footage has emerged from the game against Brentford on 4 November.

With the Hammers leading 2-1, the ball was squared in for Said Benrahma to tap it in and make it three, but the Jamaican’s quest for personal glory saw him making a mess of it.

Below is the footage of the incident with Antonio clearly costing Benrahma a tap in.

Peter Schmeichel told Premier League Productions (04 November, 15:59), “How do you do that? That’s an incredible miss. He’s right to be fuming.”

Selfish

That’s clearly selfish from Antonio as he wanted to be the man on the scoresheet more than ensuring his team found the back of the net.

It was evident that Benrahma was in an ideal position to slot the ball home and double his side’s lead before the break.

A one-goal lead would always be dicey and David Moyes surely would’ve given him a piece of his mind in the dressing room.

West Ham

Brentford took just ten minutes into the second half to equalise and make it 2-2 and had that goal been scored, it would’ve been a different ball game altogether.

The Hammers cannot rely on Antonio to be their number one striker for too long and a change is desperately needed.

Whether or not they opt to sign one in January or ask Mohammed Kudus to play there, remains to be seen, but something needs to change.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are now frustrated with a £10m player as a behind-the-scenes revelation has emerged from the London Stadium.
