Peter Crouch shares top four verdict as West Ham United win v Watford

Peter Crouch has shared his verdict on the race of the top four in the Premier League this season after West Ham returned to winning ways.

The former England international also named Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham as the Hammers’ main rivals for a Champions League finish.

Thankfully for David Moyes’ side, Crouch insisted nobody is ‘grasping’ the opportunity with all of the potential teams from wavering.

West Ham

“No one is grasping that top four spot.” Crouch said on BT Sport.

“It feels like the top three are gone and fourth is up for grabs, with West Ham, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham.

“I watched Manchester United at Burnley and the way they played first half, it looked like top four was nailed on for them, but then second half when Burnley stepped it up, they capitulated.”

Free for all

The Hammers would have laughed in your face if you told them they would still be in for a shout for a top-four finish at this stage in the season.

There is obviously still a long way to go but what an achievement from this side to go as far as they have in all competitions this season with three out of the four still all to play for.

West Ham

The Irons have been brilliant this season but could have also done a lot better which is no doubt where they will be looking to improve next season regardless of how much success is or isn’t achieved come the end of the campaign.

Make no mistake, the Irons are where they are based on merit but our top four rivals being so bad has certainly helped.

All of the teams have dropped silly points, but all the Hammers can do from now until the end of the season is win their games.

There will be no complaints if the team fall short having played their best football, solely focussing on themselves because they are facing some of the countries best.

Who knows, the Irons could miss out on a top-four finish but clinch Champions League football by winning the Europa League.
