Personal terms claim made as West Ham United in talks to sign Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse
Claret and Hugh have shared the possibility of West Ham agreeing on personal terms to sign Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
The reliable news outlet claims [31 July] that he’s understood to want personal terms in excess of £100k/week which could be too much for the Hammers to afford.
While talks are ongoing, this appears to be a stumbling block as the England international wants to leave St Mary’s post his club’s relegation.

Tough one
Ward-Prowse knows how highly-valued he was in the Premier League due to his dead-ball abilities and also his all-round play.
He’s certainly got what it takes to be a West Ham player and the club may consider paying him more than what they normally would.
That’s because they will sign him slightly cheaper as he’s now in a Championship club and Southampton don’t have too much negotiation power.

It remains to be seen if there are any other clubs that come in because if there aren’t then the Saints cannot really demand more money.
West Ham should at least make another bid and see if the Championship side are willing to compromise on it.
These are interesting times but also action needs to be taken quickly as the new season is now just two weeks away.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
