Paul Nevin quits job at West Ham United, will join Patrick Vieira at new club

Paul Nevin has left his job at West Ham and will reportedly join up with ex Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira, who now manages the Chelsea-owned Strasbourg.

The Hammers confirmed via their official website that the assistant manager will be parting ways with the club.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg claims that he will be moving to France to team up with Vieira at the American billionaire Todd Boehly-owned franchise.

Via Twitter, he wrote, “Expectation is that Nevin will become part of Patrick Vieira’s coaching staff at Strasbourg (of course bought by Chelsea last month).”

Fresh ideas onboard

There needed to be some kind of coaching revamp and instead of David Moyes leaving, it looks like his assistant is the one going.

The Scotsman has been in the game for a long time so he’ll have certain coaches in mind he’d like to bring to the team.

West Ham

Whether he rolls back the years to reunite with one of his past assistants or if he goes in a completely different direction and picks a young up-and-comer.

Ideally, he should go for the latter as Moyes’ still of football does need a bit of tweaking and it needs to be akin to what some of the league’s big teams play.

Nevin’s departure wasn’t expected so it could be that Vieira called him up and convinced him to leave.

It could be a blessing in disguise for Moyes but he needs to get the appointment of his successor right as it’s an important role.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are already preparing to cash in on the Declan Rice money as they hold a transfer meeting in London as they’re confident of sealing a £50million signing.
