West Ham could be set for backroom upheaval with Paul Nevin considering departing, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers’ first team coach is reported to be considering offers from home and abroad.

David Moyes has already seen Mark Warburton leave his role as first-team assistant coach, while Rob Newman could also exit as head of recruitment (ExWHUemployee, 4 July) following the arrival of Tim Steidten as technical director.

Writing on his Patreon account, ExWHUemployee posted: “In other news it does look like not only Rob Newman’s future is in doubt and he is likely to leave the club but highly rated England coach Paul Nevin could be considering leaving with a number of foreign and domestic clubs looking to secure his signature.

“The club also expect to name a replacement for already departed Mark Warburton soon with a number of former West Ham players in the mix with some other highly rated coaches.”

Swift decisions needed

West Ham finished last season on the extreme high of winning the Europa Conference League, a victory that means the Hammers will be back in the Europa League in the upcoming campaign.

The expected sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal means Moyes will have work to do on finding a replacement, or replacements, for his skipper, and of course looking at targets for other areas of the team.

But just as importantly, Moyes looks certain to have to make some decisions with his backroom team with Warburton already departing and now Nevil looking likely to take on a new challenge.

It is not exactly the ideal scenario for the Scot with pre-season preparations about to ramp up in the coming weeks, and Moyes will want to have his coaching staff nailed down in time to start running the rule over the squad.

The feelgood factor from the end of last season is something West Ham want to build on but they could do with ensuring the transition in coaching appointments is swift.
