Paul Merson taken aback by ‘shocking’ West Ham reveal on Sky Sports – he’s not wrong
West Ham United have been nothing short of atrocious under Graham Potter.
West Ham were battered 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night, with Tomas Soucek also seeing red to compound the misery.
The defeat against Tottenham has ramped up the pressure on Graham Potter, with Nuno Espirito Santo being the favourite to take over West Ham should David Sullivan pull the trigger.
It has been a miserable year to be a Hammers fan in 2025, and an alarming stat was revealed on Sky Sports that has shocked Paul Merson.

Paul Merson shocked by West Ham’s record since February
Graham Potter has overseen just six victories as Hammers manager since he took over in January, surviving last season largely due to the poor performances of the three promoted teams.
The pressure has only started to be noticed by the media due to West Ham lingering in the relegation zone, while they have also conceded 11 goals in their first four league games.
Graham Potter’s record at West Ham United | Total |
Wins | 6 |
Draws | 5 |
Losses | 13 |
Points | 23 |
Merson was informed about the Hammers’ record under Potter and shown a table that showed West Ham in 16th place since Potter’s appointment, only ahead of Manchester United on goal difference.
Merson said: “It’s shocking, really. You look at Tottenham and Man United and think ‘wow’, but they were going for the Europa last season and that’s a few points off their tally.
“But to win [three] games since February, that’s not great. That’s not great.”

Graham Potter is on borrowed time
Potter did what was required last season in order to keep the East Londoners in the Premier League, albeit in a very unconvincing fashion that saw fans turn before the season’s conclusion.
His first full season was promised to be one of progress, and pre-season provided Hammers fans with false hope, but it’s clear to see this isn’t working anymore.
Potter is on borrowed time at the London Stadium, and that time is costing West Ham vital points in their survival fight.
David Sullivan needs to finally see the light and show Potter the door, before its too late to save their season.
