Pat Nevin predicts outcome of West Ham United clash v Frankfurt

Pat Nevin is convinced West Ham can secure a memorable win in Germany on Thursday to progress to the finals of the Europa League.

The BBC pundit has showered praise on David Moyes, saying he has always been a leader.

The Hammers are trailing 2-1 from the first leg, but they have the confidence of turning it around in Germany.

“He wants to be a winner. For him to be this close, and yeah, they are a goal down, but he still feels, and his mindset will be – we’re a goal down and we can still get to a major European final which will be massive for only West Ham but for Moyes himself as well,” said Nevin on BBC Football Daily.

“When he speaks, you shut up and listen, particularly footballers. When you’re inside a group, you know he is a leader. He’s confident to be fair. I have to say, if I’m pushed on this one, I think West Ham will do this.”

Huge game

This is a massive, massive game for the club and for David Moyes.

He is an experienced manager and he has had his shares of ups and downs in his career. If he can guide them to a major European final, it will be a huge achievement for him.

For West Ham, it’s another step in the right direction. Only a couple of years back, they were fighting for survival when Moyes took over, and now they are aiming for a spot in the final of the Europa League.

Moyes has raised the expectation levels. It takes time to make a strong team, and the Hammers need to invest heavily in their squad to make it competitive in the future.

The domestic record has been topsy-turvy and they have lost their chance to get into the top four this season.

This is their best possible way to get into the Champions League next season. Should they manage to do it, it will not only bring financial rewards but the club will be in a better position to keep hold of their star players like Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen.

In other West Ham news, Ray Parlour says this ace must be regretting the decision he made about the Irons.
