Paddy Lane enjoying meteoric rise amid West Ham interest

Paddy Lane is enjoying his meteoric rise and says he is focused on the task amid strong interest from West Ham.

According to a report from The Mirror (17 April, page 74), the Hammers are heavily interested in signing the Fleetwood midfielder.

The report claimed that the London outfit views Lane as a potential understudy to Jarrod Bowen.

West Ham

The Hammers have watched him closely this season, and the club could make a move for the player who has won the League One young player of the season award.

The youngster is not perturbed with links to the Premier League. He said to Football League World: “They’ve all been pinch yourself moments but I’ve tried not to look back.

“Keep working, keep going forward and keep focussing on the next game, the next training session – that’s where my head is at the minute and that’s where I want it to stay.

“I set myself a target at the start of the season. I said if I get five appearances for the first team I’ll be over the moon.”

Highly-rated

The 21-year-old is a terrific young talent who is making tremendous progress in his career.

Not while back he was plying trade in the seventh tier of English football, and now he is enjoying a superb campaign, and it has opened the door for a potential move to the Premier League.

The youngster has made 36 appearances this season in League One, where he scored five goals and provided eight assists.

West Ham

He has recently made his senior debut for Northern Ireland, and the Hammers scouts are heavily impressed with what they have seen so far.

Lane is an attacking midfielder who can play in all three positions upfront, and he could be an asset for the Hammers in the future.

He is a talented midfielder and someone who is worth taking a gamble on. Will David Moyes take a punt on him remains to be seen.

The summer transfer window is absolutely vital for the Hammers, irrespective of where they finish at the end of the season. Lane would be a fantastic addition to the side.
