Pablo Fornals now ready to agree long-term contract to quit West Ham United, he’s finished in the Premier League
West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals is ready to agree a long-term contract to quit the London Stadium and join Real Betis, according to Diario De Sevilla.
The Spanish news outlet reported online (31 January) that the 27-year-old is willing to take a salary cut to join the La Liga side and reunite with former West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini, who brought the Spaniard to the Premier League.
In exchange for reducing his wages, Fornals is keen to sign a long-term contract in Seville.
His desire to leave is due to his belief that his time in the Premier League is over.
Get it done
This is a move which makes sense for all parties involved.
For Fornals, he can reunite with a manager who he clearly has fond memories of, while for Real Betis they will be signing a top talent who still has plenty of years left ahead of him.
And for West Ham, the club will be able to get a fringe player off their books which would see David Moyes’ side bring in some cash and ease the burden on the wage bill.
Fornals’ willingness to take a wage cut is a rarity in modern football and a sign that he really is desperate to leave England.
Although he has played 15 times in the Premier League this season, just four of those appearances have been starts, and it is clear that Moyes no longer has any major use for the player, especially following the arrival of Kalvin Phillips.

By returning to his home country, Fornals can begin to rediscover his best form.
