Pablo Fornals missed West Ham v Watford due to Covid-19

West Ham are without Pablo Fornals for Tuesday’s clash against Watford due to Covid, according to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg.

The Spanish attacking midfielder has been a regular for David Moyes’ side this season, but they now have to do without him at Vicarage Road.

Covid-19 has seen the Hammers get some of their games postponed, but Fornals is the only player unavailable due to the virus right now, and that is not particularly bad.

Steinberg said on his personal Twitter account: “Pablo Fornals out for West Ham today.

“Has tested positive for Covid.”

Fair enough

Declan Rice misses the game through suspension, and while the Hammers only have a win in their last seven Premier League, leaving struggling Watford with all three points should not be an issue.

Fornals has started 16 league games for West Ham so far, coming off the bench twice, scoring four times and assisting twice.

Being without him is not a huge blow as Moyes still has enough in his tank to face the relegation-threatened Hornets.

The Irons need to win today (28 December) in order to keep their top-four aspirations on track, and other players need to step up with both the Spaniard and Rice out.

West Ham

West Ham return to action on January 1 with a trip to Crystal Palace, and it remains to be seen whether Fornals would have returned a negative test by then.

They face Leeds United in the FA Cup and league before playing Manchester United in their last game of the month, and he should be back in action by then.
