Pablo Fornals calls Liverpool ‘lucky’ in ‘really frustrating’ West Ham loss
West Ham forward Pablo Fornals has opened up on the “really frustrating” 1-0 defeat suffered at Anfield on Saturday (March 5).
The Hammers have dropped down to 6th place following their defeat and Arsenal’s win against Watford on Sunday (March 6).
The Spaniard urged his team to be more clinical in front of goal after missing several chances against the Reds.

He said as per Liverpool ECHO: “Yeah, you can say lucky and bad luck for us in the last touch, but the truth is that we are going out from here without any points and we probably deserved at least one.”
Fornals added: “It’s really frustrating because I think from the first until the last guy who wore a West Ham shirt did an unbelievable job inside the pitch, so I’m really disappointed for me personally because I didn’t take the chance.
“I’m really proud of what I did and all the lads did inside the pitch and how we played against the best or second-best team in the league and probably in the world right now.”
Move on
It was a very frustrating game indeed. West Ham did a brilliant job of containing the title pushers for large parts of the game but couldn’t finish their chances when they came.

Against the very best you have to be clinical and the Hammers simply weren’t. Liverpool failed to create many – if any – clear cut chances throughout the whole game and got very lucky with the dragged shot that fell kindly to Sadio Mane to tap in.
It was a very tough one to take given how the game played out and, on another day, with Declan Rice, the game could have been very different.
Away at Anfield is a game the Irons aren’t expected to win though, and they can take much confidence from their performance into the game against Sevilla on Thursday (March 10).
The Irons Premier League route to Champions League football looks gone now which makes the Europa League last 16 tie a hell of a lot more important.
