‘One of the best’ – Pablo Fornals blown away by West Ham defender while picking dream XI

West Ham United playmaker Pablo Fornals has selected his dream starting XI from players he has lined up with during his career.

The Spaniard has impressed at times during his debut season at the London Stadium but will need to be more consistent in the next campaign.

David Moyes stuck with him during some tough periods, and Fornals even selected himself on the bench in his own side – somewhere he won’t want to be too often next season.

Fornals was full of praise for a number of Irons, including Declan Rice, Mark Noble and Felipe Anderson, but it was his comments on Angelo Ogbonna which stood out.

“Angelo is one of the best centre-backs I have played alongside,” he told the club website.

“He’s big, tough and honestly I wouldn’t want to play against Angelo if I was a striker!”

Ogbonna has been superb ever since Moyes arrived, and he was rewarded with a cemented spot in the side.

Under the likes of Manuel Pellegrini, the Italian was third-choice behind Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop, but he has definitely become the first-choice now.

The 32-year-old made 31 appearances last season, the second-highest total in his five years at the club. Ogbonna also won the most aerial battles per game in his career according to WhoScored during that campaign.

Based on Fornals comments, the experienced defender clearly has a massive impact on the players around him, and he will be crucial behind any success next season.
