Nuno has West Ham on course for 15-year low as supercomputer predicts final league finish

Nuno Espirito Santo has West Ham heading for relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Fulham on Saturday, meaning the Hammers are now winless in their last seven games.

A lack of quality is a big reason behind that, though the dreadful management of Nuno is also a major cause for concern.

Relegation is looking more and more likely for West Ham as the season goes on, and Opta’s supercomputer has predicted that the Irons will suffer relegation by some margin.

West Ham predicted to finish with lowest points tally since 2011

Take Jarrod Bowen out of this West Ham team, and there would be a case for relegation to be confirmed months before the season is due to end.

The lack of goals is astounding, though there are several other factors that have seen the Hammers spiral down the Premier League table.

West Ham’s defeat to Fulham means that they will finish 2025 five points adrift from safety, and Opta‘s supercomputer expects that gap to be even bigger come the end of the campaign.

Unsurprisingly, the Irons have a 66.9 per cent chance of relegation, with a forecasted points tally of 34.

If that were to be the case, it would be the fewest number of points picked up by a West Ham side since the one that suffered relegation back in the 2010-11 season, when they finished on 33.

West Ham unlikely to bounce back as they did in 2011-12

The Championship is a different beast than it was 13 years ago, when the Hammers were last involved in the competition.

As things stand, it’s looking as though two of the Premier League’s status quo will be joining the likes of Sheffield United, Southampton and Leicester in what will be a fiercely competitive division.

Last time the Hammers fell into the second tier, they won promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt with 86 points.

Given the level of restructuring that would be required, that wouldn’t happen again, showcasing just how drastic it could be if they suffer the same fate this season.
