Nuno Espirito Santo to sweat as ‘massive’ sickness bug threat looms ahead of West Ham clash vs Bournemouth

Nuno Espirito Santo will be eager for any updates amid a sickness bug sweeping through the Denmark camp, for which West Ham goalkeeper Mads Hermansen is present.

Nuno has been able to turn West Ham‘s fortunes around recently despite the surrounding negativity at E20.

Protests against Karren Brady and David Sullivan have continued, but the Hammers faithful will be happy that Nuno is at the helm.

West Ham still face a threat of Premier League relegation this season, and their match against Bournemouth on Saturday will be vital in hopes for survival.

However, ahead of the showdown on the south coast, Nuno may have to keep Hermansen away from the rest of his West Ham players.

Mads Hermansen exposed to sickness bug while away with Denmark

Hermansen has been tipped for a West Ham exit ahead of January, with Nuno in favour of playing Alphonse Areola.

The Danish goalkeeper has been away for international duty with his country for important World Cup qualification games against Belarus and now Scotland on Tuesday.

However, ahead of their pivotal showdown against the Scots, Denmark and Hermansen are dealing with a sickness outbreak.

According to The Scotsman, a sickness bug is spreading around Denmark’s camp, which could have “massive” ramifications on their upcoming game, and potentially Hermansen and West Ham.

Fulham’s Joachim Andersen has caught the bug among others, with Denmark’s medical team now trying to plug a further spread to other players.

Nuno has no other option but to do one thing with Hermansen when he returns

West Ham may need to quarantine Hermansen

Hermansen is not seen as an important player to Nuno, so there should be no doubt over what the Hammers boss’ next steps.

West Ham recently recalled Fin Herrick, and Hermansen needs to be kept away from the rest of the group, even if he returns to E20, fine.

The shot-stopper will be travelling alongside some of his Denmark teammates, who could be carrying the bug.

Hermansen most likely would be benched against Bournemouth even if he was okay to play, and Nuno needs to make what should be an easy call with the keeper.
