Nuno Espirito Santo sack date locked in as West Ham sources share update

Nuno Espirito Santo’s time seems to be running out to save his West Ham job.

West Ham suffered a devastating 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest last time out, which has left them sitting 18th in the Premier League.

Nuno‘s side are seven points off safety, and the West Ham hierarchy were not impressed by the way he acted after the final whistle.

The Portuguese manager was seen hugging his former players, but that is not understood to put him in immediate sack danger at the London Stadium.

Nuno’s West Ham reign could be over soon

Nuno has won just two of his 16 matches in charge of West Ham, failing to turn around the dismal start to the campaign under Graham Potter.

A report from The Guardian on 9 January claims that the 51-year-old may only have two games to save his spot in the dugout.

It states that Hammers’ sources believe he could be dismissed from his post if the Irons lose to Tottenham on 17 January.

Why West Ham are doomed to go down regardless of their manager

The East London club are destined to be relegated regardless of who is in the dugout.

Years of ineptitude from the board are finally coming back to haunt the E20 outfit, and they will likely spend next season in the Championship.

Recruitment has been dismal for a number of windows, with the likes of Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez and Luis Guilherme serving as prime examples of a flawed strategy.

It does not seem to have improved, as they have made two forward signings, that do not exactly inspire confidence.

Pablo is promising, but he is only 21 years old, and while he did score 10 goals in Liga Portugal before his move, he is untested in the English top-flight.

Meanwhile, Taty Castellanos was signed for big money from Lazio, after scoring just two goals this season for the Italian side, which does not bode well for the Hammers.

It will require a miracle for the Irons to survive, and it does not seem like Nuno, or anyone for that matter, could save them at this point.
