Nuno Espirito Santo left with head in hands after West Ham star’s international horror show

West Ham are looking forward to building momentum under Nuno Espirito Santo after the international break.

Nuno will be hoping his West Ham stars come back uninjured as he still seeks his first victory as Hammers boss.

West Ham currently have a striker issue, with young forward Callum Marshall touted for a first start against Brentford, as Real Madrid forward Endrick has been linked with a move to the London Stadium.

Nuno will be delighted that the Hammers are already preparing for activity in the January transfer window. However, the head coach will not be pleased with how one player in particular has performed.

West Ham’s Konstantinos Mavropanos’ nightmare for Greece

Konstantinos Mavropanos is seen as an important player for Nuno, having started both of the coach’s first games in charge.

Mavropanos was a target for Milan in the summer, but he remained at West Ham and has not enjoyed the finest of seasons to date.

Unfortunately for Nuno, it doesn’t seem like the Greek defender will be coming back to E20 on top of his game, amid his country’s games now concluding.

Mavropanos’ two games for Greece in October

Mavropanos played the full games in both of Greece’s defeats in their World Cup qualification matches to Denmark and Scotland, conceding a combined total of six goals.

West Ham‘s defence has been leaky, and Nuno will be wanting the towering Greek defender to plug the holes in his backline.

Had he watched Greece’s two October matches, though, Nuno would have had his head in his hands.

Since Mavropanos has entered back into West Ham’s defence, the Hammers have looked an improved side.

Mavropanos crucial for Nuno Espirito Santo

Nuno wants West Ham to be defensively organised, as he looks to shift the Hammers into a winning environment.

Mavropanos is the exact type of player that will thrive under Nuno, as the 6,4″ defender shares similar qualities to those that excelled last season at Nottingham Forest under the new West Ham boss.

Nuno looks happy to have Max Kilman and Mavropanos to be his two starting centre-backs, as the latter will be looking to shake off his poor international form to help West Ham get back to winning ways.
