Nuno Espirito Santo faces ‘massive issue’ at West Ham after what Rob Green noticed vs Brighton

Nuno Espirito Santo is coming under increased scrutiny after West Ham drew with Brighton on Tuesday.

West Ham and Brighton shared the points after an up-and-down night for both sides at the London Stadium.

Max Kilman and Lucas Paqueta gave penalties away, while the latter netted from the spot to put the hosts 2-1 up, moving into the second half.

Nuno was in need of a result at West Ham after coming under pressure of the sack, but didn’t get it in the end as the Hammers could only manage a draw.

Former Irons ace Rob Green was left unimpressed with his old side after what he saw from Nuno and Co. in the second half against the Seagulls.

Nuno Espirito Santo slammed after Brighton defeat

Nuno faced early pressure ahead of the Brighton clash as fan discontent continues to bubble under the surface in East London.

The result and performance certainly hasn’t helped the Portuguese head coach, especially after going ahead in first half added time.

Paqueta’s strike from 12 yards should have been the start of a positive second 45 that saw the Hammers take the game away from the visitors.

That wasn’t the case once again as Nuno opted to sit back and attempt to hold a one-goal advantage, something that has constantly failed this season.

Green was left fuming by the tactical decision as he spoke out via Match of the Day with further scrutiny placed on Nuno’s doorstep.

He said: “It’s becoming a real issue, and it has become a massive issue for Nuno. You look at the amount of games they’ve gone in front and not held onto 1-0 leads.

The only game they did so was against Nuno back in August. In the second half, they came out a goal up and just went back into their shells and decided to defend, and they aren’t good enough to do that.

When could West Ham sack Nuno?

There might not be much time left for the ex-Nottingham Forest boss to turn things around after a poor start in E20.

Positivity surrounding the 51-year-old is at an all-time low, with very few plus points to take away from the 11 points under his tenure so far.

Nuno may face the sack in the coming weeks, with clashes coming up against Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham.

A heavy defeat in any of these fixtures could be enough to mark the end of the road for the Portuguese, with a decision potentially set to be made as early as 3 January.
