Norwich City midfielder Gabriel Sara breaks silence on West Ham United transfer speculation
Gabriel Sara says he is not thinking about the rumours linking with a move to West Ham and is focused on promotion to the Premier League with Norwich City.
The Sunday Mirror reported (12 March, page 71) that the Hammers have been scouting the Sky Bet Championship star Sara, 23, in recent weeks but they’re not alone in the hunt to sign the talented Brazilian.
It is understood that Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig are also targeting the former Sao Paulo midfielder, who joined Norwich for a club-record £11.5m last summer.
Responding to those links, Sara admits he is only focusing on Norwich City. Speaking to Pink Un [16 March], he said: “I want to live in the present.
“I don’t know anything about these reports, actually. I am only thinking about Norwich and getting this promotion. That is my focus.
“I am feeling so confident and like I’m adapting to this league. Every game I am feeling better. I’m learning to fight to the ball, how to deal with the press and tactically. The quality on the pitch is making me better and my team are making me a better player.”

Make summer move
It is perfectly understandable that Sara is stating his focus on his campaign at Norwich City as they are currently involved in a tight playoff chase in the Championship, and that’s where his focus should lie right now.
However, that doesn’t mean the rumours won’t go away.
Sara is enjoying an incredible breakthrough season in England, going on to register six goals and four assists from 31 Championship games in the centre of midfield, and that is an area West Ham will desperately need quality in with club captain and former academy star Declan Rice set to leave this summer.
The England international’s presence and invention from midfield will be sorely missed, and the Hammers in the coming months will certainly be desperate to find some solutions to the void that will be left by Rice’s departure.
Sara is a player the East Londoners should consider with his unique creative attributes and technical qualities making him a sure bet to be a Premier League-level player in the near future.
