Northern Ireland fans ‘quietly excited’ about ‘lethal’ Callum Marshall after what he did at West Ham United
Northern Ireland fans are getting “quietly excited” about West Ham youngster Callum Marshall, according to BBC Sport journalist Mark Sterling.
The 18-year-old striker has scored 16 goals in 10 matches for the club’s Under-21 side, having joined the West Ham academy in January 2022.
Marshall has been called up to the Northern Ireland squad for the current international break, with the country taking on Finland and Denmark in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Writing about Northern Ireland fans, Sterling wrote for BBC Sport that “one ray of hope in the striking department that they have been getting quietly excited about for some time is West Ham United teenager Callum Marshall.
“The 18-year-old has been in lethal form this season, scoring 16 goals in 10 appearances for the Hammers’ Under-21s, including three against senior teams in the EFL Trophy.”

Bright future
Marshall certainly has a bright future ahead of him for both club and country, but he is already shining on both levels.
The striker has been scoring goals for fun in East London, with his fine form earning him call-ups to the Northern Ireland national team.
And manager Michael O’Neill wasted no time in integrating the youngster into the setup, with Marshall making his international debut against Denmark back in June.
It was almost a dream moment for the teenager, who netted a last-gasp equaliser from the bench, only for VAR to rule the goal out.
It remains to be seen whether or not he will be involved in the upcoming matches against the Danes and Finland, but given his recent form and indeed the country’s current injury issues, minutes are almost guaranteed.
Should he continue finding the back of the net with ease, it may not be long until West Ham boss David Moyes is forced to take action regarding the youngster’s first team opportunities.
In other West Ham news, Hammers scouts have watched a European trio in action, with their clubs now braced for bids.
