Neil Warnock blasts West Ham United after Julen Lopetegui decision
Neil Warnock believes West Ham United should have been careful about what they wished for following their start to the Premier League season.
The Hammers have had a poor start to their 2024/25 campaign, despite the appointment of Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium.
Alan Brazil agreed and admitted that he wasn’t impressed with what he has seen so far.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (25 September, 9:41 am) Warnock shared his thoughts on Tim Steidten’s decision to hire the Spaniard after getting rid of David Moyes.
“You look at West Ham now, you’ve got to be careful what you wish for haven’t you,” he said.
“They look terrible now West Ham don’t they,” Brazil replied.
West Ham United may have made the wrong manager choice
Despite having a fairly solid transfer window, West Ham fans have been left somewhat underwhelmed by their team’s recent performances.
The club have been well below-par this term and Dean Saunders believes that Julen Lopetegui’s instructions have likely been “confusing” for the players to take on board this term [talkSPORT, 25 September, 6:45 am].
Last season most fans were calling for the head of Moyes due to poor performances and while the club did end up with the fourth-worst defensive record in the top flight, they still managed to finish in the top half of the table.

After their summer transfer window, many Hammers fans were predicting that they’d be in contention for the European places but, at the moment, it feels as if the club would be lucky to even break into the top half.
Of course, there’s plenty of time for things to change and, likely, their current position won’t be where they end up but the fact that Lopetegui has already been given a three-game ultimatum [GiveMeSport, 24 September] should be a cause for concern.
