Neil Moxley predicts ‘trouble ahead’ for David Moyes at West Ham United despite win v Fulham

The Sunday People’s Neil Moxley has predicted “trouble ahead” for West Ham and David Moyes despite the Hammers picking up a vital 1-0 win over Fulham.

A Harrison Reed own goal saw Moyes’ men seal a huge three points to pull themselves clear of the bottom three and up to 13th position.

However, despite the win, Moxley has claimed the West Ham boss should still be looking over his shoulder with there still a number of players performing below par.

“David Moyes should be looking over his shoulder,” wrote Moxley (Sunday People, page 57, 9 April).

“But so too should some players. Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen apart, the rest didn’t look like they cared against Newcastle. There’s trouble ahead.”

Unconvincing

Once again, Moyes has come back from the brink. The performance wasn’t impressive but the West Ham manager found a result when he needed it most – and it’s become a common theme during the 2022/23 season.

The games against Southampton and Nottingham Forest were similar instances where the Scot managed to find a result when the pressure was on. The three points will obviously be welcomed but there needs to be a consistent improvement in terms of performance.

West Ham United

Picking up wins due to fortuitous own goals is not a sustainable way of picking up results and that’s been abundantly clear during the 2022/23 season.

Things could once again turn sour as Arsenal make the trip to the London Stadium looking to tighten their grip on the league title. Despite West Ham’s league position, the nature of the relegation battle could see the bottom three become too close for comfort in no time at all.
