Nedum Onuoha reacts to ‘outrageous’ moment witnessed in West Ham loss vs Manchester City
Nuno Espirito Santo will be disappointed at West Ham’s defensive display against Manchester City on Saturday.
West Ham lost 3-0 to Man City at the Etihad Stadium in another Premier League result that will pile pressure on Nuno.
The Hammers were always going to struggle against Pep Guardiola’s side, and Erling Haaland was at the heart of a fantastic performance with two goals and an assist.
The loss created more concern for West Ham’s relegation fears, as the Irons have remained in 18th place.
West Ham did create chances, but it was their defence that let them down against City.
Former Sky Blues defender Nedum Onuoha was full of praise for Manchester City‘s attack, and one goal in particular.

Nuno had to deal with absences ahead of the match with Malick Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both away for the African Cup of Nations tournament.
The full-backs were sorely missed in the game, as it was fairly easy for City to create chances.
- Manchester City created an xG of 2.43
- City got eight shots on target
- Despite scoring three goals, City still missed three big chances
City went into the break with a 2-0 lead, with Tijani Reijnders scoring the second, getting on the end of a brilliantly worked move.
While commenting on BBC Sport’s Final Score, Onuoha was stunned by the goal which tore West Ham’s defence apart.
Onuoha said: “Outrageous goal. Cherki has intercepted it, done an Iniesta-like move, plays it to Haaland who then plays it to Reijnders and then bang into the roof of the net. It’s very much what they deserve.”

Even though the Hammers didn’t score, they created two big chances and were unlucky not to walk away with at least something to celebrate.
David Sullivan must now have a clear idea of what to do with West Ham’s transfer business following the scenes at the Etihad Stadium.
David Sullivan needs to act now
It’s pretty clear at this point that West Ham are being held back by their own defence.
Nuno has chopped and changed to try find the perfect balance in the Hammers’ backline, but his options are bleak.
West Ham were linked with Charlie Cresswell in the summer, and the Englishman now seems like an obvious player to target come January.
| Games | Goals conceded |

If Sullivan wants the Irons to remain a Premier League outfit, then he is going to need to dip his hands in his pockets next month.
There are no excuses anymore for the hierarchy, and Nuno is going to need the help of multiple additions.
