Nayef Aguerd raves over ‘wonderful’ James Ward-Prowse after what he did in 2-1 West Ham United v Freiburg

Nayef Aguerd believes West Ham will continue to improve in their set-pieces this season because of James Ward-Prowse’s “wonderful” deliveries after his assist in the 2-1 win over Freiburg.

Goals from Lucas Paqueta and the Morrocan international ensured Moyes and his men returned to London with another crucial three points to sit comfortably at the top of group A.

However, it was another game in which Ward-Prowse produced another delicious assist – his sixth in West Ham colours since his summer move from Southampton, which drew praise from Aguerd [via WHUFC website, 6 October].

“It was a nice feeling,” he explained. “We all know that we are performing from set pieces – Prowsey’s delivery is wonderful so we work a lot in training to score these goals.

“On Thursday it was me, it was Kurt against Luton. Tomáš has scored from set pieces, so we work on those.

“We are very happy to achieve these three points in this atmosphere, it’s a good win.

“The forward players were unbelievable.”

Another Prowse magic

Thursday’s win over Freiburg was another impressive milestone for West Ham United who have now become the talk of the European stage after their exploits over the past year, and Moyes deserves tremendous credit.

The Hammers did incredibly well against German opposition to record another impressive European victory.

The second half brought great and unrelenting pressure on their goal but as they always do in Europe under Moyes’ stewardship, they rode those waves pretty remarkably.

And West Ham United certainly had Ward-Prowse to thank once again as he delivered his sixth assist of the campaign already with another tremendous delivery for Aguerd’s winner.

The former Southampton man’s addition is now vast becoming a stroke of genius from Moyes as he knew his defenders would be so potent from his set-piece deliveries and it’s now clear to see.

The Irons are the best set-piece masters around and that ability has now only been enhanced by Ward-Prowse’s unique qualities which should now become a scary weapon for even the best defences both in the Premier League and now in Europe.

In other West Ham news, a senior man has reacted badly to his manager’s decision and is now set to leave the club in the near future.
