Napoli lower Piotr Zielinski valuation as West Ham United eye transfer
Napoli have reportedly lowered the valuation of midfielder Piotr Zielinski amid links with a move to West Ham this summer.
According to Sport Italia and Corsport e Mediaset journalist Paolo Bargiggia, the Serie A no longer are demanding £34million for the 28-year-old.
They’re prepared to cash in on the Poland international for a fee of £29.7million and the Hammers can secure his services if they pay the discounted amount.
Via Twitter, Bargiggia wrote, “Zielinski at West Ham, Napoli’s first request to the Hammers: the figures.
“Napoli’s first request for West Ham is 40 million euros (£34million) but the feeling is that it can close at 35 plus bonuses (£29.7million).”
Careful
Zielinski may be one of the most established midfielders in the Serie A given the number of years he’s featured for the Naples outfit.
However, he’s largely unproven outside Italy – having played no senior domestic league football outside the Southern European nation.
Players take time to adapt to the pace and physicality of the Premier League and the 28-year-old is undoubtedly going to find it a completely different ball game in England.
Given his age, he’s been acclimatised to the weather and style of football in Italy – having been there for over a decade.
It’s hard to expect him to suddenly hit the ground running for West Ham and the Hammers must look at players who have experience of playing in the English top flight or at least ones that are young enough to adapt.
They’re already signing one player for the Serie A in Gianluca Scamaccca who has been spotted in London and must avoid taking another risk by going for Zielinski.
