Nahitan Nandez set to leave Cagliari amid West Ham talk
West Ham target Nahitan Nandez is free to leave Cagliari in January, according to Vincenzo Morabito.
Speaking to Kiss Kiss Napoli [via CalcioNapoli24 09 December], the Italian agent revealed that the Uruguayan international would probably leave the Serie A club.
However, he won’t be leaving on loan unless there is an obligation to buy included in the deal.

He also claimed that the Irons were “very close” to signing the 25-year-old in the summer, so could they come back in for him?
He said: “Nandez can leave in January, but Cagliari [will] not deprive [themselves] of one of [their] most important players on loan.”
Irons to make a move for Nandez?
On the face of it, a move for Nandez doesn’t make that much sense.
The Hammers already have four central midfielders, and David Moyes plays Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice in most games anyway.
Therefore, why would they need Nandez?
You would have to say that they don’t need him at all, but could they get him in anticipation for next season?
Now, this would make more sense because Mark Noble is retiring, and Alex Kral’s loan finishes at the end of the season.

Therefore, there will be at least two midfield spots that need to be filled, and Nandez could be the man to do that.
The 25-year-old looks perfectly suited to the Premier League and has been linked with moves to Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur.
So that could be an option for the Hammers, and a move in January would allow them to beat off a lot of competition for him next summer.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have had a bid rejected for a brand new attacker.
