Moyes blown away by one West Ham man
West Ham United manager David Moyes, in his second spell at the club, inherited a talented but underperforming group of players.
It’s his job to get them back playing to their full potential, something that he has partially managed thus far in his brief second tenure.
One player who has seemingly particularly impressed the Scot is playmaker Pablo Fornals, who has really kicked on over the festive period and beyond.
Moyes spoke about the former Villarreal man in glowing terms at his pre match press conference on Thursday.
“I thought against Bournemouth he did very well,” he said, as per Football London.
“Any Spanish player coming to the league takes time to adjust. I think he has big potential, I’m looking forward to working with him for years to come.
“I think there is a good chance [he starts on Saturday].”
Has Fornals found his groove?
It’s certainly looked that way over the past month or so. Moyes is right, it does take time to adapt to the Premier League. However, Fornals now looks to be finding his feet.
If you discount the Crystal Palace defeat, where he still did OK, the 23-year-old’s most recent WhoScored ratings when he’s started have been 7.32, 8.26 and 7.22.
Moyes was raving about the Bournemouth game, but since then he’s not started Fornals. He must change that on Saturday.
In other West Ham news, Moyes reportedly wants a reunion with a former Everton midfielder at the London Stadium.
