Moussa Dembele has no interest in joining West Ham from Lyon – report

Lyon striker Moussa Dembele has no interest in moving to West Ham in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The Irons are looking for a new striker after agreeing a deal with Ajax for the transfer of Sebastien Haller.

Earlier reports from French outlet RMC claimed that the Hammers had made contact with Dembele over a potential switch to the London Stadium.

But, The Athletic claim that the Hammers have not made contact with Dembele and in any case the striker has no interest in moving to West Ham.

Dembele reportedly finds his current club’s situation more ‘exciting’ than West Ham’s predicament with Lyon top of Ligue 1.

David Moyes needs a replacement for Haller as the Hammers cannot afford to have Michail Antonio as the only first-team striker at the club considering his injury record.

Haller is set to move to Ajax in the near future with Sky Sports reporting that the Hammers have accepted a £20million bid for the striker.

This money will have to be re-invested into the search for a new forward as soon as possible.

If Antonio picks up another injury in the next few weeks then the Hammers could be left without a striker in the first team.

The Irons now find themselves in a position that few clubs will find themselves in this window, they have money to spend.

We could see the club renew their interest in Bournemouth striker Josh King with the Cherries forward looking likely to move on this January.

Either way, the club needs a new striker as soon as possible and whoever that forward turns out to be, it looks like it won’t be Dembele.
