Monza find it difficult to sign Luca Pellegrini after West Ham United make ‘important’ offer

West Ham have made an “important offer” to sign Juventus defender Luca Pellegrini, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper (25 June, page 25) reports that Serie A club Monza could struggle to sign Pellegrini due to the offer made by the Hammers.

The report, however, doesn’t clearly state the nature of the offer from the London club, but it says other potential suitors of Pellegrini are finding it difficult to sign the 23-year-old at the moment.

Gazzetta Dello Sport reported on 19 June about West Ham’s interest in the left-back. It was suggested that The Old Lady could ask for a fee of at least £8.6million for the player.

Need for a left-back

The left-back is one area the Hammers need to bolster this summer.

Aaron Cresswell did well last season, but the veteran defender proved to be error-prone in big games.

The Hammers need a more mobile defender down the left, someone who will nail down the regular first-team spot.

Arthur Masuaku remains another option, but chances are high that he could be sold in the summer.

Pellegrini could be a smart signing for the club, and the price quoted by Juventus is well within their budget.

West Ham

He made 18 appearances in the Serie A last season (2021-22) where he provided one assist. His numbers are not that impressive, considering he has managed 1.3 tackles per game, and makes only 0.3 interceptions, as per Who Scored.

The Italian defender is very strong with his passing and dribbling, and it seems the Hammers are clearly interested to take him to the London Stadium.

Juventus probably are waiting to see if they receive any better offer from elsewhere, but based on the CDS report, it looks like the Hammers are leading the race.
