‘Might be a chance’ – David Moyes reacts to opening set of Premier League fixtures

David Moyes has reacted positively to the recent release of the Premier League fixture list for West Ham United next season.

The Irons start the 20/21 campaign by welcoming Newcastle United to the London Stadium, something which could be seen as favourable.

Following that though, West Ham play the likes of Arsenal, Wolves, Spurs, Manchester City and Liverpool in their next six.

Moyes claimed that although it may be a struggle, there will be separate times where his side could pick up points next season.

“I think we will approach our opening games in the same manner,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’ve always said that you play every team twice in the season. When I came into the Club, I looked at January’s games and thought: ‘My goodness, this set of fixtures is really difficult.’

“They proved to be that, they really did, but we also saw a group of fixtures later on which we thought might be a chance to pick up points – which we did.”

West Ham

Last season, West Ham opened the campaign with a 5-0 defeat at home against Manchester City, but after that, they went on a great run.

They did have a favourable run in that good set of wins though and only played Manchester United out of the so-called “top-six”.

What the Hammers must avoid next season is a similar run which saw Manuel Pellegrini sacked. After September, the Irons didn’t put together a run of two wins until July.
