Michail Antonio to return to West Ham training on Monday – report
West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is set to return to training on Monday after recovering from his latest injury.
Claret and Hugh have reported on their website that despite a full week of training, Antonio is only expected to be on the bench against Sheffield United.
The striker had been completing light training alone and away from the squad after tweaking his hamstring against Manchester City.
Claret and Hugh have also shared that Angelo Ogbonna has returned to training.
These updates mean that David Moyes should have a full squad available to him for the trip to Bramall Lane, where three points will be expected.
Antonio bouncing back is a massive boost for the Irons, who have struggled in the final third without his presence in the side.
Sebastien Haller has been handed starts against Liverpool and Fulham, and he made little-to-no impact in either.
Haller needs a partner
During his career, the Frenchman has always been at his best when not alone – just look at his partnership with Luka Jovic at Frankfurt.
Moyes is unlikely to change his system that has brought success to the London Stadium, and Antonio is a massive part of that.
The 30-year-old has the physicality to hold the ball up, but also press effectively when out of possession, something which Haller struggles to do.
Antonio averages 20 attacking duels per game [WyScout], and he will be relishing the chance to get back into the side – fingers crossed it’s against Sheffield United.
