Michail Antonio tells Jurgen Klopp to ‘bring the money’ after Liverpool boss’ comments on West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen

Michail Antonio has told Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to “bring the money” if he wants to sign West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen.

Reds boss Klopp namechecked Bowen as his favourite player outside of his own squad when previewing the Carabao Cup quarter-final between the two sides, which Liverpool won 5-1 on Wednesday (20 December).

Hammers forward Antonio advised Klopp only a huge sum would see Bowen – who signed a new seven-year deal at West Ham back in October – depart the London Stadium.

“He [Klopp] can lay seeds all he likes! He’s just signed a seven-year deal,” he told the Footballer’s Football Podcast (22 December) in quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo.

“If you want that, bring the money! Are you letting Salah go?”

Money, money, money…

Sometimes you have to feel sorry for football managers. They can make seemingly innocuous comments and everyone jumps on them as if they have some sort of hidden meaning, and that is probably what has happened here.

Although, having said that, Liverpool have been regularly linked with a move for Bowen and it is easy to see why given how brilliantly he has played for West Ham over the past few seasons – he is a genuine top talent in the Premier League.

So, let’s say for arguments sake that Klopp was trying to plant the seeds of a move for the England ace, then Antonio is absolutely right that there is simply only way that move is going to happen.

And the answer is money. Plenty of it. Players like Bowen who are England internationals come at a premium and frankly it is hard to imagine Liverpool are going to spend that sort of money in January. Maybe he was just commenting on what a good player he is.
